Frequently asked questions.

General

  • We work with landlocked states all over the U.S. to send school groups, college kids, and scout groups on marine adventures. But we will work with anyone, even if they live on the coasts.

  • All of our staff work from their homes, but DiveOne was started in Minnesota and has operated strictly within the state since 2012.

  • DiveOne’s trips offer hands-on experience and a lifetime certification for open-water scuba diving. These skills can benefit students who wish to pursue a marine science career. If not, a dive certification gives them a lifetime hobby that can be done on any vacation.

  • DiveOne was founded in 2012 as DiveOne MN and dissolved in 2020. We are now just DiveOne as we move into more states.

  • A previous alumni of the DiveOne MN Cayman trip took the original company to new heights.

  • Because our top priority is safety, our scuba trips are for high school-aged kids and up (14+ years old) due to the amount of gear and risk there is with the sport itself, but we have added snorkel trips for kids that are 12 and older that provide younger students an opportunity to learn as well.

  • We have several ways you can get involved. We offer volunteer positions that work with your schedule and interns with a set amount of logged hours but are worked around your schedule. We also have an artist program where we work with local artists to help promote their work. Please see our “Artist Program” page for more details.

Trips

  • DiveOne offers three types of trips: scuba, snorkeling, and conservation.

  • We go all over the world! Our most popular trip is our Cayman Trip, but with the addition of new trips all the time, we think it won’t be the most popular for long.

  • Conservation trips are trips that provide students hands-on experience in the marine science field. We work with our partners to give students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn and put valuable experience on their resumes for their future career fields.

  • We must have at least 10 kids for the trip. A teacher goes, a company representative goes, and a dive instructor goes. Therefore we usually have 3-5 students per adult.

  • Absolutely! We will always take more chaperones for our trips. They will have to pay the same amount.

  • Our dive instructor is responsible for student safety and diver safety and should be focused on their job. The teacher who goes with the group is responsible for the students like they would be on a field trip, and we also send the trip coordinator to guarantee reservations and deal with the budget.

  • We provide a direct phone number for the teacher, the dive instructor, and the trip coordinator for easy access to communication. Students are also allowed to bring their phones. There may be lousy service in the areas; therefore DiveOne also provides social media check in’s and messaging services on social media to provide more availability for communication.

Finances

  • All of our trips are designed to stay under $3000 per child, but each individual trip is a different price.

  • Yes! We offer discounts for those who already have their dive certification and alumni who have been on our trips before.

  • DiveOne trips include airfare, housing, DiveOne t-shirt, meals, dive certification, dive spots, and rentals.

  • Diveone trips do not include passports, DiveOne merch, individual snacks, or souvenirs.

  • The trip is discounted for you! You can still come and have fun in a place you’ve never dived before.

  • We want to ensure that we are giving everyone an equal opportunity to learn how to dive and experience a life-changing experience like our trips. This is why we work with our families on a payment plan that allows them time to save for their trip. We have payment plans that sometimes span an entire year!
